Call for the Workshop of Undergraduate Works

The main goals of the Workshop of Undergraduate Works (WUW) are to motivate undergraduate students involved in research projects on Computer Graphics, Image Processing and Computer Vision to attend the SIBGRAPI conference and to provide opportunities and environment for these students to present and discuss their research among them and with experts in the area. Works may be submitted by any student currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or has graduated in the past 12 months. The work can be authored by one or more students, but must have a professor responsible for the research in the list of authors. Thus, each paper must have at least two authors (one being the student's advisor). Accepted works will be presented in poster sessions.

Selection criteria

The WUW program committee will evaluate the submitted works with regard to the following criteria: originality, technical quality, research contribution and presentation. While the scientific contribution of the submission may be smaller than that of the full papers track, it is expected that a WUW submission include a complete work with methodology and results. Submissions without at least preliminary results will be rejected. Awards will be given for the three best works presented at the WUW poster session by one of the author students. Awarded authors will receive a certificate, as well as a special recommendation for the work publication at REIC Revista Eletrônica de Iniciação Científica, an electronic journal published by SBC.

Instruction to the authors

Submissions can be written in English or Portuguese, and the text should follow the SIBGRAPI 2016 formatting guidelines for main track full papers, but with the following adjustments. The names of the authors should not be omitted, disregarding the requirement of anonymity of the main track.In particular, students must appear as the first authors and the advisor as the last author, with eventual coadvisors and other collaborators in between. Submissions in Portuguese should include, after the abstract in Portuguese, also an abstract in English. Papers are limited to 4 double column pages.Papers should be submitted through the CMT system in the WUW track.

Double Submissions Policy

Simultaneous submissions in the main track and WUW are not allowed, and will be rejected without review. Students enrolled in an undergraduate program who are first authors of papers accepted in the main track can apply to present a poster in the WUW poster session and become eligible to WUW awards. However, they are not required to submit a WUW paper. They should submit a pdf print of the letter of acceptance in the may track and the undergraduate program enrolment certificate for 2016.

Poster preparation

Posters should be prepared using A1 format in a portrait orientation. The use of small fonts on the text production is not recommended. It is not necessary to include the poster in the CMT system.
